
Optometrist Andrew Field sadly passed away on December 30 2020 aged 81 after a battle with cancer.
Former colleague Simon Barnard and Dr Jan Bergmanson, one of of Field’s former students, have prepared the following tribute.
‘Andrew was an esteemed member of our profession and one of UK optometry’s unsung heroes who contributed greatly over many years to the development of our profession.
‘Andrew grew up in Wansted, East London. He attended Northampton College of Advanced Technology (NCAT), now City, University of London, graduated with a degree in Ophthalmic Optics in 1960 and qualifying in 1961. He was later awarded an MSc in Visual Science from City University.
