A set of principles setting out the Optical Confederation’s position on overclaiming and underclaiming GOS fees has been published for optical practitioners.
The OC stressed that fraud was never acceptable or defensible, but said errors of over and under-claiming occured in all non-automated claims systems. It would continue to press for an e-GOS system for claims and payments so that errors could be remedied at source.
Optical Confederation chairman Chris Hunt said: ‘Optical Confederation members are committed to working together in the best interests of patients and the sector. These principles outline how we will work with the NHS to ensure NHS resources are properly expended.
