OCT plays key role in intercranial hypertension diagnosis

​Specsavers highlights the importance of OCT machines

Specsavers has highlighted the importance of OCT machines in diagnosing eye diseases quicker than traditional methods.

Megan Turner, 22, had an eye examination at Specsavers in Exeter after suffering with debilitating headaches for a while, where an OCT scan revealed her optic nerve was badly swollen.

She was referred to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and was diagnosed with intercranial hypertension.

Specsavers Exeter’s ophthalmic director Scott McGowan said: ‘It’s so heartening to see that by keeping up with her routine eye tests, our optometrist was able to pick up the early signs of Megan’s condition and could refer her for treatment at an early stage. We’re really happy to have been able to help Megan.’
