Review of OCT2 module in community practice highlights quality of scans

An initial review of the OCT2 module in a community optical practice has highlighted its speed and quality of scans.

The first optometrist in the UK to take delivery of a Spectralis with OCT2 upgrade was optometrist John Rose, practising in Kingston-upon-Thames.

Supplier Heidelberg said OCT2 allowed deep penetration into the choroid while providing improved resolution within the inner retina and visualisation of the vitreous.

Rose said: ‘We were very excited to receive the OCT2 in practice and are already incredibly impressed with the speed and the quality of the scans.

‘The OCT2 joins our existing family of Heidelberg instruments, including our original Spectralis and HEP perimeter, and I love how Heidelberg networked them all together so they share a common database and I can perform accurate follow-ups no matter which Spectralis device I use.’
