Practice management software company Ocuco is the largest IT company in the UK optical market with double the turnover of its nearest competitor, according to recent accounts filed at Companies House.
The company's 2005 turn-over grew 186 per cent to slightly under €4m from €1.39m in 2004. Profits spiralled from €48,500 in 2004 to €817,000 last year.
Ocuco attributed the rise to increased independent practice installations along with the 200-store Vision Express roll-out.
Revenue increase was matched by greater expenditure on graduate technical staff working within the R&D and support departments at the company's Dublin and Berkshire offices.
Ocuco added that its management buyout, led by CEO Leo Mac Canna, further strengthened its market position and determination to become a global IT player through acquisition and expansion.
