Grafton Optical says the Reichert Ocular Response Analyser is the first instrument to provide a direct measure of biomechanical properties.
The measurement, called corneal hysteresis, is an indicator of the 'overall integrity of the cornea' that provides more detailed information than the central corneal thickness (CCT) alone.
The Ocular Response Analyser is also able to present IOPcc, a measure of intraocular pressure that correlates with Goldmann on average, but is less affected by corneal properties, such as elasticity, resistance and thickness, said the company.
A built-in ultrasound pachymeter and a comprehensive patient management database are two further features of the instrument.
