OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation tackles poor vision

The OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation has been working with schools, clinics, healthcare providers and local partners across the UK and worldwide to expand access to vision care.

Through regular school screenings and referrals, community outreach and public awareness programmes, the foundation aimed to help more people access the eye care they need.

Frédéric Corbasson, Onesight EssilorLuxottica Foundation director for Europe and the Middle-East, explained: ‘Most of what we’re doing today is creating access points. In the last ten years, we’ve set up more than 33,000 of these access points in developing countries and each can serve 25,000 people, which means that soon - this year, normally - we should reach a billion people covered by this initiative, which is already encouraging, but the work isn’t finished.’

Corbasson also highlighted the foundation’s commitment to philanthropic efforts in developed countries, including running vision clinics and working with associations that support underserved communities.

From June 23 to 27, the foundation will host a vision clinic in London for people experiencing homelessness, with the goal of helping 600 beneficiaries.
