OO and stand-up comic Sarah Morgan to perform at top comedy venue

Optometrist and stand-up comic Sarah Morgan has had her ‘dreams come true’ after being asked to perform on stage at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on March 24 for Comic Relief.

Morgan, a regular guest on BBC Radio Lancashire with John ‘Gilly’ Gillmore, talking about optometry and eye health, has been asked to headline Gilly’s Comedy Gala and will be introduced by comedy legend Jimmy Cricket.

Gillmore broke the news to Morgan live on air, before informing her that the venue would be the Opera House main stage which hosts 3,000 people, rather than the smaller Studio Theatre stage she was originally anticipating.

‘I was lost for words, literally, and it takes a lot for me to be silenced. My head was exploding with the opportunity ahead of me. In May 2016, I went to see Sarah Millican perform there, and during her show I kept thinking how much I wanted to perform on that stage. You have to be careful what you wish for. To have Jimmy Cricket introducing me is an honour.’
