Poppy Hope stole over £4,500 from her employers

A Specsavers optical assistant who stole over £4,500 from her employers has been handed an eight-month suspended prison sentence with 200 hours of community service at Teeside Crown Court.

The court heard that Poppy Hope told investigators she did not know how many times she stole money from the till or why she did it, because she said she did not need the money.

A report in The Evening Gazette said Hope had claimed she was unhappy with her job and added that she was expected to do too much with no support from her employer. She had been in the position for four-and-a-half years.
