An optical assistant at Specsavers Bellshill has received an award from Dame Mary Perkins.
Claire Feeley was given the Customer First Award after helping an elderly wheelchair bound patient with leukaemia, who was unable to collect her dispensed glasses from the practice due to ill health. Feeley delivered the glasses to the patient’s home, changed her oxygen tank and also bought some shopping for her.
Co-founder of Specsavers, Perkins said: ‘I was moved when I heard the lengths that Claire had gone to for this customer, especially as at the time she’d only been with the company for three months. She really went one step further for the customer. Our role is not just about providing glasses as Claire showed - she treated that person as though she was someone close to her.’
