Optical bodies feel effect of storm

Minimal disruption had been caused to the profession by the St Jude’s Day Storm on Monday as Optician went to press.

A Specsavers spokesperson said weather conditions did not affect any of its stores and they were open as usual throughout the day, although some optical bodies did experience issues.

ABDO reported a loss of power at its Godmersham Park college campus in Canterbury, while the GOC tweeted that its phone lines were closed due to the adverse weather.

In total, there had been four storm-related deaths in the UK, while many were still experiencing power cuts.
