Optical bodies united in fight for recognition

Optical chiefs from across the industry gathered in the Intercontinental Hotel in Park Lane, London last week to raise a glass of champagne to the new Optical Confederation.

Optical chiefs from across the industry gathered in the Intercontinental Hotel in Park Lane, London last week to raise a glass of champagne to the new Optical Confederation.

Bringing together the voices of the five optical bodies, the Confederation reported that it would offer a 'strong united voice for excellence in UK optics' that would represent patients, professionals and the sector.

The Confederation will be comprised of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO), The Association of Contact Lens Manufacturers (ACLM), the Association of Optometrists (AOP), the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians (FMO) and the Federation of Ophthalmic and Dispensing Opticians (FODO).
