Two top of the range tandem bicycles have been purchased after the optical sector backed a Northern Ireland cycling club for blind and partially-sighted people.
The Northern Ireland Optometric Society (NIOS) and Optometry Northern Ireland (ONI) has sponsored Tandeming Together, which originated in Newry. Faith Mills (left), president of the NIOS and council member Maria Napier joined Danny McSherry of Tandeming Together to try out the new bicycles.
‘It’s our pleasure, on behalf of NIOS, to be able to support our local community in this way. Our sight is so precious and yet there are many, even in our local community, who do not allow sight loss to limit them, whether in work or leisure,’ she said.
