Cooperation, cost savings and shared resources have characterised the first four years of the Optical Confederation resulting in benefits for the whole of optics, Don Grocott, chairman of the OC told its delegates at its first full conference in London this week.
Opening the meeting Grocott said since its inception in April 2010 the OC had provided a net benefit to the sector.
‘It was – and maybe still is – slightly counter-intuitive to think that forming yet another organisation in optics would make things better. Optics is so very well provided with organisations.
‘Surely the Confederation simply further consumes precious resource in additional management and so on. Happily, as these past four years have demonstrated, that is not the case,’ he said.
