Unaudited 2008 results reveal rise in turnover

Unaudited 2008 financial results for Optical Express saw the eyecare group reveal an 18 per cent rise in turnover to £208m, although its operating profit fell slightly from £13.4m in 2007 to £13m for the year.

DCM Optical Holdings, the parent company of Optical Express, told The Scotsman newspaper that the credit crunch had had little to no effect on its business as most of its services were viewed as 'a necessity rather than a luxury.'

A strong performance from all aspects of the company's business including laser surgery, optical services and an orthopaedic hospital in Manchester were said to have contributed to the results.
