Staff at Optical Express’ Lister Gate clinic recently served up tasty treats for patients and shoppers in a charity cake sale, raising £140 for Sightsavers in the process. The sale is part of an ongoing programme of charity events that the clinic is running to raise £1,000 for the charity.
Clinic manager Patrick Laidlaw, said: ‘The work that Sightsavers does makes a huge difference to the lives of people living with sight problems. That’s why we wanted to support them. The cake sale was just one of the fundraising events we’re holding in the clinic. Some of us are training for a 10k obstacle course run in June, so we were happy to sell the cakes before we ate them all.’
