Optician Awards 2016 marks excellence across the profession

JuppComedian and spectacle wearer Miles Jupp touched down in Birmingham last week to present the Optician Awards 2016 ceremony along with Optician editor Chris Bennett.

The flagship optical awards event, held on April 9 at the Birmingham Vox, saw trophies presented across 16 categories.

More than 500 guests saw Observatory the Opticians pick up two Awards, while Lynne Fernandes was named Optometrist of the Year and Andrew Oliver won Dispensing Optician of the Year.

Oliver said: ‘I am absolutely delighted to get the recognition but it’s a team effort. The award is a huge pat on the back for the whole team at Tompkins, Knight & Son Optometrists.’

Fernandes added: I’m absolutely delighted to have won the award, and was astonished that it was my name read out from such a talented shortlist. It was a privilege to be there and I'd like to offer my congratulations to everyone who was shortlisted.’
