There is no better way to put your practices on the map, reward your staff or showcase a world class product than winning an Optician Award and now is your chance to beat the Christmas rush by getting your entries in.

The website outlining all of the Optician Awards categories, the judging criteria and what you need to do to win can be found at www.opticianawards.com. The closing date for entries in January 22 and most categories simply require a statement of less than 1,000 words and supporting materials to make the initial entry.

‘With the closing date so early in the New Year the deadline can catch some entrants out,’ said Optician editor Chris Bennett. 'In the past entrants have asked for more warning of the deadline which comes very soon after the Christmas break.’

‘Each year we ask our entrants what they would like guidance on. Our website includes an article providing tips on how to win an Optician Award.'

The categories, listed below, are backed up with more information on the Optician Awards website. Entries must be made online.

Judging will take place in early February and the shortlist published soon after. A drinks reception in central London will be held for all of those shortlisted in early March.

A brand new venue, The Vox, which is on the Resorts World Campus at the NEC's site near Birmingham, has been secured for the Optician Awards 2016.

The black tie presentation evening will take place on April 9, the Saturday night of the Optrafair weekend. Around 600 guests are expected for the biggest night of the optical year which will include a drinks reception, entertainment and a three-course meal. The presentation of the trophies will be made by a mystery celebrity host.

The evening will be rounded off with a charity casino and dancing. All of the proceeds from the casino will be donated to Blind Veterans UK.
