Over 500 guests attended the Optician Awards presentation at London’s Hilton Park Lane on Saturday night where a double winner was recognised in Tempany’s Boutique Opticians.

The practice in Broadstone, Dorset was winner of the Fashion Practice of the Year, while contact lens optician Keith Tempany was recognised with the Contact Lens Practitioner of the Year award.

There was also a very well received award for Keith Holland & Associates in the Contact Lens for Life Award (Teens), where Clare Holland and Rebecca Jarrett the wife and daughter of the late Keith Holland were given a standing ovation by the audience.

Welcoming the guests, Optician editor Chris Bennett said the event was all about recognising and rewarding excellence, as well as honouring those in the profession who had made an outstanding contribution to eye care and retail optics. He thanked the judges for their help in picking out the 18 winners from almost 200 entries, as well as giving a special thanks to the nine sponsors of the event.

After a drinks reception and dinner, guests were entertained by impressionist and comedian John Culshaw who then went on to hand out Optician’s trademark Art Deco trophies to the winners alongside sponsoring companies and optical dignitaries.
