Contamac has established a new grant in support of the Keratoconus Foundation. The ongoing grant will support the launch of Bausch+Lomb's KeraSoft contact lenses for keratoconus. For every prescription KeraSoft lens sold in North America the company will donate a portion of the definitive material sales as an unrestricted grant.
Canadian eye specialists have warned of the danger of using surgical implants suspended in front of the iris to change eye colour, having treated a number of patients who have developed problems following surgery outside North America. One patient paid $8,000 three years ago at a clinic in Panama to lighten her iris colour to green. She had two glaucoma surgeries and a corneal transplant that was rejected and is now legally blind despite the removal of the implants.
