Essilor has acquired US wholesale optical laboratories Katz & Klein and VIP Optical. The acquisitions were reported in the company’s quarterly financial results. Katz & Klein, founded in 1937 and located in Sacramento California, was reported to have annual revenue of around $4m. VIP Optical, located in Linden, New Jersey, was said to generate revenue of approximately $3.9m. financial details of the transactions were not disclosed.
A redeveloped version of the BCLA website has gone live after what the organiastion said was an 18-month development period. The new site is now fully interactive and allows users to create profiles and set up notifications for when relevant new content becomes available. Members can also create discussion groups and list up to three practices on the site’s ‘Find a contact lens practitioner’ search tool. A new jobs section will be added soon.
