Specsavers optician Nigel Davidson receives British Citizens Award

Specsavers optician Nigel Davidson received a national honour last week as he was recognised with a British Citizens Award for his services to volunteering and charitable giving.

The store director at Sutton-in-Ashfield was one of 36 medallists who were invited to the awards ceremony at the Palace of Westminster last Thursday.

Davidson has been instrumental in raising thousands of pounds for several charitable causes, including the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). He also started the Ashfield Eyecare Services charity in 2014, which delivers free eye tests and glasses to the homeless.

Speaking about his achievement, Davidson said: ‘I am surprised and delighted to receive this honour and I would like to thank the BCA, my work team, colleagues, family and friends for all their help and support.
