ironman2Six sporting souls have been selected to form the Optician Ironman Team which will take part in the UK Ironman 70.3 this June to raise funds for Vision Aid Overseas.

A natural choice for the team was Fiona Bosher who represented the UK in last year's Oakley Transitions Ironman Team. She is joined by mobile dispensing optician Emma Saville who works for Batemans across Surrey and Sussex and optometrist Rob Dunfold, also of Batemans, but hailing from Cornwall.

Bristol-based dispensing optician James Eastwood of Dyer and Scott, optometrist Andrew Armstrong of independent practices in North Yorkshire and East Lancashire and self-employed optometrist Lyndon Ferguson from Surrey who works at Horrocks & Boyd in Kingston-upon-Thames and Ultralase in Guildford complete the six. The team's line-up is completed by Optician editor Chris Bennett.

Over the coming weeks more details of the team and their training efforts will be revealed along with some of the work carried out by Vision Aid Overseas. Details will appear in the pages of Optician and on the team's blog which can be found through the Optician website.

The team has already received generous help from Transitions in securing the race slots. Optician is calling on all its readers and advertisers to support the team with donations to VAO and further team sponsorship.
