Optics honours

​People in optics have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2021

People in optics have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2021 for their services to ophthalmology and to people living with visual impairment.

Ngonidzaishe Adam Mapani, lead nurse consultant and Moorfields Eye Hospital and clinical teaching fellow at University College London was awarded an MBE for services to ophthalmology.

Professor Caroline Jan MacEwan was awarded a CBE for services to ophthalmology and healthcare leadership during the Covid-19 response.

Also recognised for services during the pandemic was Alison Stannard, services manager at Sight Support Hull and East Yorkshire, who was made a medallist of the Order the British Empire for services to people with visual impairments.

Blanche Louise Back, residential care manager at Blind Veterans UK was also a medallist of the Order the British Empire for services to visually impaired ex-service people during Covid-19.
