Optical practices have rallied behind this year’s Road Safety Week in a bid to encourage regular eye tests and prevent road accidents.
Specsavers has sponsored this year’s event, which runs from November 18-24, and released latest drivers’ vision statistics collected from its Drive Safe trailer visits around the country.
Checks found that 40 per cent of drivers were breaking the law due to substandard vision, and half had failed to have an eye examination in the past two years.
The multiple said it continued to campaign for legislation to be introduced making eye examinations compulsory as part of the driving test and licence renewals.
