Optics wins support from MPs

The Eye Health Alliance along with Kevin Barron MP, the chair of the Health Select Committee, hosted a reception at the House of Commons last week to raise the profile of optics and to generate support for an early day motion (EDM) on transforming eye care for older people.

edmThe Eye Health Alliance along with Kevin Barron MP, the chair of the Health Select Committee, hosted a reception at the House of Commons last week to raise the profile of optics and to generate support for an early day motion (EDM) on transforming eye care for older people.

The EDM which aims to put the topic of eye care for older people high on the political agenda received cross-party support from many MPs and Peers.

After the event, a Eye Health Alliance spokesman said: 'Having so many MPs and Peers of all parties attend to speak up for and to sign an EDM supporting eye care shows just how far optics has come in the past few years. It shows what can be achieved through the unity of the profession at both national and local level.
