Optos, the Scottish eye care technology specialist will float on the London Stock Exchange on February 10 with a valuation that could be as high as 180m.

The Dunfermline-based company, which leases the Panoramic 200 retinal scanner to opticians, this week reported an 'indicative implied market capitalisation' for its initial public offering of 200p to 260p per share, valuing the firm between £145m-£180m.

'We expect the global offer will be complete by the middle of February,' said Optos' director of communications John McNeil.

The listing for Optos (News, January 20), is expected to trigger lucrative windfalls for investors. Proceeds are planned to be used to expand the Panoramic 200 Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope device, branded Optomap, further into European markets.
