Optometrist erased after 24-month suspension

Malti Amin made £32,000 of unauthorised sales and refund transactions

London-based optometrist Malti Amin has been erased from the General Optical Council’s register after a committee found her fitness to practise impaired by reason of misconduct.

The decision related to Amin conducting unauthorised sales and refund transactions using her personal credit and debit cards, and then failing to provide information to evidence insight and remediation.

Amin was previously suspended from the register in September, 2020, for 12 months, which was extended by another 12 months in September, 2021, following a review.

Throughout the period of the allegations, Amin was working as an optometrist and manager with Luxottica Retail UK. The sums totalled around £32,000 from August 2018 to January 2019.
