Optometrists accredited in post-op cataract care

Optometrists attend event to accredit them in delivering aftercare for post-cataract operation

More than 25 optometrists attended an educational CET event in Bristol to accredit them in delivering aftercare for post-cataract operation patients.

Richard Whittington, CEO of LOCSU, was a special guest and outlined the local application of a framework agreed between LOCSU and Newmedica community ophthalmologists in April.

The evening was held at Newmedica’s eye health clinic and surgical centre in Litfield House, Bristol.

Attending ophthalmologists came from high street practices in Bristol, Keynsham and Weston-super-Mare.

Jeremy Diamond, a consultant ophthalmologist who gave a lecture on post-operative complications, said: ‘We are keen to build an ever-closer relationship with local optometrists to improve eye care for patients.’
