Eye care professionals have been fundraising for Vision Care for Homeless People.
Optometrist Michael Offord from Newcastle cycled 140 miles from Whitehaven to Tynemouth, raising just over £1,400 for the charity.
Offord said: ‘I have come down to London and volunteered in the past for the Crisis eye clinics and I was keen to do something else to support this home-based charity. It has been lovely to get friends and family to support me and to help to make a difference – it is a very worthwhile cause.’
Dr Scott Mackie and his son Rory also raised money for the charity by cycling through the Outer Hebrides from North Uist to Vatersay over the course of three days. They raised over £600.
