This year's keynote address at the annual Optometry Tomorrow conference, which takes place at the Hilton Brighton Metropole from March 8-9, will be a panel discussion.
Organiser the College of Optometrists has invited Dr David Colin-Thomé, national clinical director for primary care at the Department of Health (DoH), David Parkins, joint chair of the professional executive committee of Bexley Care Trust, Helen Tilley, chair of Optometry Wales and Malcolm McPherson, independent optometrist, to debate enhanced services and commissioning, innovation in community-based practice and new ways of working. The discussion will end with a view from a representative from the DoH.
Commenting on the new keynote lecture format, Ellen Colquhoun, head of marketing and communications at the College, said: 'Our keynote address traditionally looks at the latest thinking and new ideas. This year the panel will demonstrate how the profession is developing by sharing new methods of working, showcasing innovation and successful models and helping the audience to understand what has worked well and what has been less successful.'
