Optoplast Actman Eyewear Company bolsters Made in England frame collection

Optoplast Actman Eyewear Company has bolstered its Walter & Herbert ophthalmic brand Made in England frame collection with four modern-retro style models.

The new frames – Turner, Franklin, Townsend and Beeton – join a collection of 20 pieces with design themes that pay tribute to English heritage figures, such as Bronte, Churchill and Kipling. The acetate frames were constructed in the company’s Liverpool factory and designs were based on shapes reminiscent of fashionable eye wear styles from the 1940s and ’50s.

Townsend, pictured below, is a good example of this design ethos. The shape is recognisable as a ’50s statement frame worn in Hollywood movies. The dipped bridge and upswept front creates a feminine oval brow line. It is available in three tortoiseshell colours.
