Medical retinal imaging company Optos is to reduce its overheads by 10-20 per cent.

The reduction of its senior team is already under way and refocused on what Optos describes as a global functional basis, which includes the establishment of a global sales team, a single customer service function and one R&D team.

The announcement came as part of a pre-close trading update ahead of the group's interim results for the six months ended March 31 2009. It was also reported that Optos' group revenue for the period was $46.8m-$47.8m, 97 per cent of which was generated from its core pay-per-patient model. However, it was also revealed that the number of installations had reduced from the end of last year.
