Orbis to use AI-powered software to help diagnose conditions

Orbis International has announced that it will use AI-powered software to help diagnose conditions on its flying eye hospital.

Developed by Visulytix, the Pegasus technology can be used to detect and diagnose diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma. Images of the back of the eye were taken with a retinal camera and sent through Cybersight, a telemedicine platform, to Visulytix, which diagnoses the eye disease in eight seconds.

Sameer Trikha, Visulytix founder and chief medical officer, said: ‘One of Visulytix’s key missions is to permit the early detection of potentially treatable eye conditions by using artificial intelligence clinical decision support. We are thrilled to realise this mission through this exciting agreement with Orbis and provide this cutting-edge technology where it is needed most.’
