The Orthoptic & Binocular Vision Association (OBVA) has announced the restart of its optometry course.
Dr David Stidwell, honorary secretary of OBVA, said that many optometrists have asked them to reinstate the course due to many finding that binocular vision is a challenging topic. The OBVA course consists of presentations during the morning of the course and demonstrations on patients in the afternoon.
Dr Nicola Phelps, board member of OBVA, said: ‘We are delighted that the course is being hosted at Aston University. The excellent facilities and central location are ideal.’
Professor Bruce Evans, board member of OBVA, added: ‘Every week a typical community optometrist will see several patients with orthoptic anomalies, and many can be diagnosed and treated in optometric practice. Our course will assist optometrists in determining which cases they can help and what can be realistically achieved in community optometric practice.’
