The Optical Suppliers Association (OSA) revealed its new tagline ‘Empowering the Profession’ at its annual general meeting and lunch on December 1 at London’s Bloomsbury Hotel.

New standards for the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Task and Finish group will be produced next year to drive interoperability between devices and optical communities.

OSA chair Roy Stoner said that the DICOM group was essential for moving optics forward with the OSA acting as independent assessors during the process.

‘We are developing a long-term partnership with the NHS to support its eye care transformation plans, not just on the present topics, but for everything else which will emerge in the near future, where supplier engagement will benefit the common goal,’ he said.

Stoner also praised the dedication of Karl Jeebaun and Stephanie Campbell for leading the OSA E-health group, which had attracted a ‘flood of new members’ during 2023.
