OutsideClinic develops new kit bags

A new lightweight kit bag for domiciliary optometrists has been launched by the OutsideClinic to make their staff’s daily work more efficient and comfortable.

OutsideClinic optometrists told the company their bags were too heavy and challenging to use, so new ones were designed by southwest regional manager Dan Young and senior designer Jon Richards.

‘By prioritising the end user, our optometrists, we ensured that the new case was functional and seamlessly integrated with the rest of our equipment. We are thrilled to introduce this new case to our team and confident that it will improve our operations and enhance the experience for our optometrists,’ Young said.

The new branded bags featured pre-cut slots for each piece of equipment, reducing the risk of damage during transit and making it easier to see if something has been left behind.

OutsideClinic’s old bags weighed 10kg but the new ones weighed 6.4kg and promised to streamline the testing process, reduce physical strain and deterioration of the kit.

The development process cost £40,000 and produced 85 bags, including several prototypes, before the final design was achieved.

More than 80 optometrists at the OutsideClinic are currently using the bags and the company planned to roll the bags out to all of its optometrists by the end of Spring.
