OutsideClinic facilitates shadowing day

Domiciliary provider Outside-Clinic facilitated a shadowing day, pairing a nursing student with a domiciliary optometrist to underscore the significance of interdisciplinary cooperation in healthcare.

University of the West of England (UWE) nursing student Harriet Porteous joined Outside-Clinic optometrist Kate O’Brien on February 6, visiting six patients in their homes in the Bristol area.

The experience highlighted the significance of thorough eye exams for eye conditions and wider systemic health issues as well as the impact of visual health on independence and overall patient wellness.

O’Brien said: ‘It’s crucial for healthcare professionals to grasp the benefits of eye tests and the array of systemic pathologies they can reveal.
