OutsideClinic provides eye care at VCHP pop-up

They partnered to deliver free eye care services at a pop-up clinic in Swindon

OutsideClinic partnered with Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP) to deliver free eye care services at a pop-up clinic in Swindon to 11 people experiencing homelessness.

The domiciliary provider said improving access to eye care was vital and highlighted that two patients were referred to secondary care after a sight test.

Dispensing optician Laura Kearney, clinical and patient contact advisor at the OutsideClinic, took patient details and dispensed when needed at the clinic.

‘I met a mixture of lovely people, all with very different backgrounds and people who have fallen on difficult times. The work VCHP does is so important it cannot be put into words. It was a fulfilling experience. I wanted to give back to my community and utilise my skills, which was exactly what I wanted to do. I hope to work with VCHP again and help those most in need,’ she said.
