Specsavers has unveiled details of its annual Professional Advancement Committee (PAC) Conference which is themed 'Food for thought'.
Billed as Europe's biggest one-day optics meeting, the event, which takes place on November 1 2009 at the ICC in Birmingham, will encompass a full programme of professional development lectures which qualify for CET points.
With clinical, dispensing and contact lens lectures running alongside hands-on problem-solving sessions, paper-based and online CET quizzes, this year's programme offers a 'truly interactive experience', combining web-based learning and practical workshop-style sessions, said Specsavers.
Delegates will have an opportunity to hear from a line-up of expert speakers, as well as being able to talk to key industry suppliers and representatives from invited educational institutions and professional bodies.
The conference programme includes presentations on 'Glaucoma: assessment and risk evaluation' by Dr Robert Harper 'The ageing eye and contact lenses' presented by Dr Catharine Chisholm and 'Myopia: structural and functional aspects, and potential pathways to therapy' by Dr Edward Mallen.
Another highlightis a session on 'Vision without glasses - which is my best option? - a debate session with Paul Rosen, Dr Chisholm, and chaired by Professor Harminder Dua.
Between six and eight CET credits are available for attendance, with a further sixthrough the quizzes, and more online after the event.Delegates canalso take advantage of a discounted bookstall.
Specsavers stressed that the PAC is open to all optical practitioners, not just its employees.
