The vast majority of patients are satisfied with the results of their Lasik eye surgery, according to a peer reviewed report published in the April issue of Ophthalmology.
The report, which reviewed 19 studies from 13 countries encompassing around 2,198 subjects who had Lasik from 1988 to 2008, found that some 95.4 per cent of the patients were satisfied with the results.
Lead researcher Kerry Solomon of the Medical University of South Carolina and her colleagues also reported that satisfaction rates were similar regardless of which country they were treated in.
The report noted that 16.3 million Lasik surgeries have been performed worldwide to date, and about one million Lasik surgeries are done annually in the US.
