A practice owner was told by his primary care trust (PCT) that he was not allowed to sell the records of a sister practice that had gone into administration.
Sean Hotson, owner of Holbeach Optical, was written to by Lincolnshire PCT about the sale of the patient records of Specs 4 Less in Spalding to Molsom & Associates Optometrists, also in Spalding.
Hotson, who had reopened the other Specs 4 Less practice in Holbeach as Holbeach Optical after the administration, was told that the sale of the records had not been permitted by the PCT and must be rectified 'as a matter of urgency'.
