Photochromic push by Norville

The Norville Group has highlighted that the dispensing of high-index Seiko Transitions has doubled in the past nine months, proving that it is no longer a seasonal product. The company added that the introduction of 1.67 Transitions and the launch of the brown option had done much to boost demand. The Seiko SSV 1.67 high-index material is combined with an aspheric front-surface design that is described as 40 per cent thinner than standard plastic Transitions and 60 per cent lighter than the equivalent glass option. It comes in a prescription range of +10.00 to -15.00D in single vision and Genius Wing progressive forms. Norville also pointed out that the break-resistant lens Trilogy was now available as a Transitions option. It said that the Younger Optics lens was some 10 per cent lighter than polycarbonate, and was particularly suited for rimless, with low-stress characteristics and better visual optics. Priced as other mid-index lenses, Trilogy Transitions grey comes in single vision +6.00 to -12.00D, and Image Progressives from +8.00 to -8.00, opposite cyls to 6.00. The company is also running a summer promotion on its SunSensors resin photochromic lenses from Corning (pictured). Norville is giving away six SunSensor mountain bikes in a free supplier draw, along with 100 UV photochromic dispensing units designed to show the fast-reacting properties of the lenses.
