A former Royal Air Force Red Arrows pilot has completed a 1,000 mile run from Land’s End to John O’Groats and raised £19,000 for Glaucoma UK.
Martin Higgins was diagnosed with glaucoma in 2003 during a routine sight test and could keep flying because of daily eye drops. He set out to raise £50,000 towards the charity’s Pitts Crick Research Fellowship, which will be awarded to a researcher focused on glaucoma diagnosis and treatment.
Joanne Creighton, CEO at Glaucoma UK, said: ‘We are proud of Martin for successfully completing this remarkable challenge. The charity is deeply appreciative of his unwavering commitment and dedication to raising awareness of glaucoma and funds for glaucoma research. Thank you, Martin, for your incredible contribution and determination.’
