Pinton adds twists to tradition

u The Francois Pinton frame collection has been updated with 24 new styles, with emphasis on plastic and titanium models.

Distributed in the UK by William Morris Eyewear, the French-made Francois Pinton line has gone for modern designs that will appeal to wearers young and old.
An example is model N84, a cross between a rimless and a supra design, which also comes as a sunglass. The frame features a metal brow that seems to float and upturned two-tone sides (pictured top).
ÔThis looks good when worn with a tint and is versatile enough to be used with a varifocal. ItÕs a stylish, almost ageless frame, that is a little bit futuristic,Õ adds Robert Morris, who describes the brow-bar as purely a cosmetic feature.
One design that looks back, taking its inspiration from the 1930s, is the no-slip bridge. This comes in a half-eye N35 (pictured) and a full-rim version, N39, both featuring spring joints. ÔThese styles will suit both male and female customers who like a bit of a gadget. It doesnÕt matter where you wear it on your nose, the frame will stay there.Õ
For those who prefer Francois Pinton plastics, there are numerous models in top-selling colours of mauve, chocolate and deep burgundy. Some 40 per cent of the companyÕs production is in acetates, many of which have twists of colour in the decorative sides. ÔWe sell an awful lot of plastics, especially the finer models at the moment. What is no longer selling is black, but the colours that follow the fashion in clothing are doing well.Õ
