The 10-minute rule bill, attempting to reclassify plano contact lenses launched by Scottish MP John Robertson, received its first reading in the House of Commons this week.
It is expected it will get its second reading next month. Robertson hopes that his bill will help restrict the sale of the lenses, but the Government has already signalled that non-prescription lenses will not be classified as medical devices.
