Polarising gauge helps reduce glazing errors

Norville Autoflow has released an axis verifier gauge for correct glazing of polarised lenses

Norville Autoflow has released an axis verifier gauge for correct glazing of polarised lenses.

The company said ISO BSI standards allowed +5° as the glazing axis tolerance for polarising lenses, rather than the glazed cylinder axis which sometimes can have a much wider allowance depending on its lens power.

More serious errors could occur when glazing polarising lenses, such as a complete 90° swing of the polarising axis, which the company said was an easy mistake to make with spherical polarising powers as technicians neglected to recall there was an axis to a polarising spherical power.

‘This little gadget will catch such errors before they get onto a patient’s face – worth their weight in gold we could say,’ said a Norville spokesperson.
