Public concern about the vision of road users has led to the creation of a sight test initiative by Sussex Police.

Drivers in several town centres across Sussex were encouraged to take part in Operation Eyesight to raise awareness of the minimum vision requirement for driving and the importance of regular eye examinations.

Motorists in Chichester, Crawley, Littlehampton and Horsham were encouraged to read a licence plate from 20.5 metres, the minimum distance set by law or 20 metres for new style plates.
