Staff at the Grays Shopping Centre branch of Specsavers recently held an Africa-inspired day to promote awareness of Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).

Fancy dress was donned by staff members and patients enjoyed face painting and a cake sale.

A donation of £1 was made from every eye test carried out on the day and the practice collected old and unwanted spectacles on behalf of VAO.

Store director Niki Kaur (far right) said: 'These events are a valuable reminder of the vast inequalities in eye care around the world. Everyone at the store had a wonderful time fundraising and we are pleased to announce we raised over £150.'
