Optical practices have felt the effect of the violent civil unrest that gripped England earlier this week. A number of stores suffered damage to property and were forced to close.
Practices around the north-London epicentre were the first to experience the troubles. Branches of Specsavers and Vision Express in Wood Green both suffered damage, but as violence spread around London, the Enfield branches of both chains, and the Brixton branch of Specsavers were all forced to close on the advice of police.
A number of Specsavers stores remained on alert after police guidance. Independent practices from trouble hot-spots fared better and most that Optician interviewed reported that they were open as normal.
